IWA has been providing Insurance Backed Guarantees and Deposit Protection to the Home Improvement sector since 1985 and we’ve built up an outstanding reputation for trust and honesty amongst our clients from all over the UK.
We protect our contractors consumers with policies that are user-friendly, easy to understand and with no hidden small print. Our cover provides peace of mind to consumers against deposit payments and against their written guarantee issued by the contractor (up to 10 years).
We can also offer commercial guarantee insurance which is quoted on an individual basis (charges applied are not the same as our consumer/domestic rates)

What is an insurance

An Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG), also known as Workmanship Warranty Insurance, is an essential protection for consumers, in the event the contracting company ceases to trade. It can cover almost any kind of building work, including (please note cover is limited to the product/service named on the policy and does not extend to any product contained within the members contract that is not named on the policy):
Air Source Heat Pumps • Bathrooms • Battery Storage (EESS) • Bedrooms • Biomass Boilers • Boilers • Central Heating Management Control • Conservatories • Conservatory Roof Replacement • Double Glazed Doors • Double Glazed Windows • Extensions* • EVCP • Fascias • Garage Conversions* • Garage Doors • Garden Rooms • Ground Source Heat Pumps • Kitchens • LED Lighting • Loft Conversions • Loft Insulation • Orangeries • PV Management Controls • PV Solar • Roofing • Roofline • Soffits • Thermal Solar
Cover is not provided for central heating systems e.g Radiators and Underfloor heating and must be excluded from any installation contract total value when registering a consumer contract for Air Source Heat Pumps, Boilers etc. IWA also excludes MVHR or Heat Recovery Systems from cover.

Workmanship Insurance for Renewables Contracts
As of 17th December 2024, the option to purchase IWA insurance through the MCS MID system ended. However MCS made it very clear that Financial Protections (Workmanship Insurance) remained mandated and leading up to December IWA worked with MCS to ensure a smooth transition for those companies wishing to continually benefit from the great insurance
